Obverse
In the foreground, the woman in traditional outfit carries a richly decorated kimono, typical of traditional clothes of the court of the kingdom of Ryūkyū. This outfit recalls the clothes worn by the nobles or members of the kingdom's royal family, of which Shuri was the political and cultural center. The specific cap
was used during important ceremonies, such as royal weddings or state events. In the second plan, the left part of the Shuri castle in detailed view and the right part in schematic line of the structure to evoke its construction/reconstruction.
Reverse
The reverse is common to all the currencies of the UNESCO series of this year 2020. It represents the terrestrial globe with the parallels and the meridians on the left part and the inscriptions of major sites classified as World Heritage of UNESCO on the right side . These inscriptions are like engraved in stone, which echoes the rosette stone. The left part of the globe is surrounded by the UNESCO logo as well as the "World Heritage" marking. The facial value is inscribed in the left part of the globe, mixing perfectly with parallels and meridians.
