The motif of the rising sun was very popular at the time of the Latvian state foundation. The rising sun symbolized the new country. With the help of the artist Ivars Drule, the motif of the sun created by the artist Ansis Cīrulis and appearing as one of the basic elements of the coat of arms of Latvia is reborn in the commemorative play "The rising sun".
