The national side of the play represents an open book with the sentence on a page "If we do not increase in the population, we must become big in the mind" of Jakob Hurt, the first president of the Society of Estonian writers.

The year of foundation of the Society of Estonian writers is also mentioned on the same side of the medal. It was founded in 1872. The company, founded in Viljandi and then moved to Tartu, contributed to the promotion of literature in the Estonian language in order to raise the cultural level of the Estonian people. The room was designed by Riho Luuse.
