OBVERSE

The inner part of the coin shows that the euro has become an element of particular importance in Europe as well as all over the world. The design elements around the € symbol on the coin are described by different aspects: citizens (represented by a family of four), trade (the ship), industry (the factory) and energy (the wind turbines).

REVERSE

The reverse shows Roty's Sower and the twelve stars, representing the twelve founding countries of the Eurozone, are distributed around the edge of the coin.
