Obverse

The character of Greek mythology Europe holding a pen and the text of the European Constitution, a bull by his side.
Europe is a Phoenician princess, daughter of Agénor, delighted because of her beauty by Zeus, then transformed into a white bull in order to approach him without making her faint and escape the jealousy of his wife Hera. She gave her name to the European continent.

The treaty establishing a constitution for Europe (also called Treaty of Rome II or Treaty of Rome of 2004), signed in Rome by the Heads of State and Government of the European Union on October 29, 2004, should have entered into Vigor on November 1, 2006, provided you were ratified by each of the twenty-five signatory states, which was not the case in fine. Due to this failure, it was replaced by a modifying treaty, the text of which was approved by the Lisbon European Council on October 19, 2007, hence its name of Lisbon treaty.
