The obverse presents an engraving of the emblematic French fashion designer, Yves knows-Laurent, who would have drawn inspiration for his creations from the streets of Paris. Knowledge-Laurent was the first designer living to see his work exposed in a museum. The engraving bears the signature of Saint-Laurent and an image of his first parade in 1962; A parade that would completely change the course of fashion history.
Reverse
The Reverses features Saint-Laurent's Talisman Heart and a Collage Taken from His New Year's Greeting Cards. This symbol of love is very important to the house of yves saint laurent, the design being based on heart-shaped brooch which has featured in every collection by the house since the first couture show in 1962. The reverse carries the inscription Liberté Egalité Fraternity, Embodying the Ideals of the French Revolution and Reflecting the Passionate Desire of the French for Freedom and Equality.
