In the middle - Al-Zaytuna Mosque, also known as Ez-Zitouna Mosque, and El-Zituna Mosque (Arabic: جامع الزيتونة‎, literally meaning the Mosque of the Olive Tree), is a major mosque in the center of the Medina of Tunis in Tunis, Tunisia.

A lawyer, nationalist leader and Tunisian statesman, he ruled the country from 1956 to 1987 as Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Tunisia (1956-1957), then first President of Tunisia (1957-1987). Before his presidency, he led the nation to independence from France, ending the 75-year-old protectorate and earning the title "Supreme Combatant."
