Obverse

The drawing represents a part of the basilica and linear forms inspired by the border motif of a mosaic of ancient Greece discovery on the site. The mentions "Archaeological Site of Philippes" and "Hellenic Republic" (in Greek) are written around the interior disc. The year of "2017" emission is indicated in the background and a palmette (the workshop brand of the Greek currency) appears on the right. In the lower left part is visible the artist's monogram (George Stamatopoulos).
