The spinosaurus aegyptus: which means "vertebral lizard", lived some 100 million years ago in what is called North Africa today. With its 18 meters long and its enormous weight of 9 tonnes, the spinosaurus is the largest carnivore to have ever walked the earth, even exceeding the most emblematic of its prehistoric predators, the Tyrannosaurus Rex. The head and jaws of the dinosaur were long and narrow. Like the contemporary crocodile, and like this semi-aquatic reptile, it is believed that the spinosaurus was at home, both on earth and in water, and that it had a diet rich in terrestrial and sea animals.
