Ivan Mazapa was the Hetman of the Zaporizhian army in 1687-1708. It is claimed that he received the title of prince of the German Roman Empire in 1707 for his efforts in favor of the Holy League. The historical events of Mazapa's life have inspired many literary, artistic and musical works.
