Spyrídon Loúis, born January 12, 1873 in Maroússi (Attic, Greece) and died on March 26, 1940 in Maroússi, is a Greek athlete, first Olympic marathon champion at the 1896 summer Olympic Games by winning the 38 test kilometers in 2 hours 58 minutes and 50 seconds.
He later became a national hero.
