EMPIRES HISTORY: five questions for Dimitri Anastassov

Can you explain your activity in more detail? What does pièces-et-monnaies.com offer?
pieces-et-monnaies.com is an online sales brand for numismatic products (collectible coins), national and international. The website works in partnership with Mints (coin manufacturers), in order to offer many quality coins. Currently, pieces-et-monnaies.com has the privilege of being one of the eight authorized French resellers of the Monnaie de Paris. The website offers several types of products: limited edition collectible coins in precious metals, face value coins for investors, collector's notes, ingots/ingots, accessories for collectors, products with a targeted theme, some of which are licensed, products from all countries of the world, but mainly focused on the euro zone and medals and mini-medals for the general public.

What is the story behind the creation of the company? What was your starting point?
The founder and president of the company, Dimitri ANASTASSOV, founded the company in 2015, thus perpetuating the family passion. In 2020, the website was launched under the brand Pièces-et-Monnaies.com. A pure player in the sale of collectible coins, the company is growing with a team of around ten people. The COVID 19 crisis and the war in Ukraine create a need to invest one's money in physical value and give a new appeal to the numismatic market. In three years, the company has grown from 350,000 euros to 3 million in turnover.

What are collectible coins? What is your vision of the profession?
These are coins not intended for circulation but struck in limited editions, often in precious metal. Some can be colored or shaped, i.e. not circular as we usually see. They sometimes concern specific themes under license. Our vision is to democratize this area of ​​collection as much as possible, especially among the youngest.

What is your expertise based on?
We are constantly looking to expand our catalog, which includes thousands of references, trying to offer customers the best prices, especially for new items. To do this, we negotiate with the Mints for the largest possible quantities of coins, which is not easy given the limited print runs. We also offer coins that are sometimes unique or no longer on the market due to their success with collectors. We also have the ability to evaluate coins in order to inform our customers as much as possible about the state of the market.

Who are your customers? How do you support them?
Our different product categories allow us to have a fairly diverse clientele. Some will buy with an investment idea in mind, others for a particular theme, or to have all the pieces from all the collections of a theme. Our goal is to offer products that can meet the
requests from as many of our customers as possible. One of the priorities was the establishment of an efficient customer service. At the origin of 90% of the exchanges with our customers, our desire was to create a bond of trust by offering several communication options.
