Obverse
In the foreground is the terrestrial globe, tilted to the right and bearing the inscription "World Food Program", from which emerge an ear of wheat, an epis of corn and an ear of rice, representing the sources of basic food in the world. To the right of the globe, an I is superimposed on an R, designating the "Repubblica Italiana" (Italian Republic). Below appears a smaller combination of letters U and P, the initials of the engraver, Uliana PERNAZZA. In the upper left of the globe appears the workshop brand R and under the globe, the 2004 vintage. The twelve stars of the European Union are placed around the outside ring.
