Cyprus 2017 - 2 Euro commemorative - Paphos Capital
Obverse
The drawing illustrates the "ancient Odéon of Paphos", a small amphitheater which dates from the 2nd century AD. Today, it is used for musical theatrical representations, and it will host a certain number of events as part of the "Paphos 2017 - European Capital Culture" program. The name of the emitting country, "κυπρος Kibris", as well as the phrase "πάφος 2017 - πολιτιστική πρωτεύουσα ευρώπης" (Paphos 2017 - European year of culture) appear in the internal part of the national side of the play.
The outside ring of the room represents the twelve stars of the European flag.
