By issuing this second 2 euro piece in 2024, the royal currency of Belgium is not limited to commemorating the long history of the fight against cancer in our country. This program also constitutes a concrete expression of gratitude with regard to all professionals and volunteers who have dedicated themselves for years to medically and morally support people crossing what can be considered as the most difficult moment of their lives. Through this room, we also want to continue to draw attention to the need to support patients and their families.

The obverse presents at the top a stylized rainbow, symbol of hope of a world without cancer with the toponym be and the 2024 vintage. The center represents a heart pulsation in the form of a awareness tape, often worn as a sign of solidarity with patients. Below the bilingual inscriptions "Fighting Cancer / Strijd Tegen Kanker" are surrounded by the initials "IB" of the creator Iris Brujns, the different (a vial of Erlenmeyer with an aster), and the workshop brand (a Mercury stick) of the royal currency of the Netherlands, where the room was struck.
