The first BD Asterix was created on October 29, 1959 by the screenwriter René Goscinny and the designer Albert Uderzo. Over the albums, the series features the adventures of the inhabitants of the famous little village of Armorica made up of irreducible Gauls. After 36 adventures with worldwide success, the main hero, the favorite Gauls of the French is already celebrating his 60th birthday!

Each currency of this collection highlights one of the key characters of Asterix: either Asterix itself, obelix or idefix. The currency of € 100 ½ oz gold represents Asterix. The face therefore represents the evolution of the character since the creation of comics until today. The bottom of the currency is covered with bubbles, echoing the world of comics.

The reverse is common to the three currencies. It represents Asterix coming out of an explosion worthy of a comic strip. The cult character seems to have taken magic potion and is determined, ready to defeat the Romans.
