The kneeling of Willy Brandt in Warsaw (Kniefall von Warschau in German, the genuflection of Warsaw) took place on December 7, 1970, the day of the signing of the Warsaw Agreement between the People's Republic of Poland and the Federal Republic of Germany .

Willy Brandt knelt in front of the Warsaw Ghetto's Dead Memorial, Ghetto where 450,000 Jews were piled up and whose insurrection in 1943 was repressed wildly by the Nazis. By making this gesture, the German Chancellor asks forgiveness for the German crimes of the Second World War.
