In 2010, France commemorated the 70th anniversary of "the call of June 18" launched by General de Gaulle, unknown at the time of the broadcast of his message in London on the BBC but however capable of launching a real call of hope To all French people and especially a cry of refusal to the profiled defeat behind the signature of the armistice by Marshal Pétain. Around this unexpected call were made up of the interior and scattered forces first and then gradually more organized and structured, capable of acts of courage, of valor in this renewal in the march for a free France.

The impulse of this call launched by a determined and convinced man allowed the French to find faith in their country and a desire to form a single body with the allies.

This message broadcast on the air on June 18, 1940 brought to the French, a real revival of honor and courage, there remains a major act of the history of the country and the national heritage. In memory of this decisive historic event, the starting point for a mobilization of the French for a liberated country, a mobilization which will continue until 1945 without ever failing, the currency of Paris, the year 2010, chose to commemorate this day .
