In 2021, the currency of Paris highlighted the Mustang P51. First confined in a role of reconnaissance and ground support, he represented an innovation thanks to his wings with a laminar profile thus improving his aerodynamics.
It was during the Second World War that he was able to claim the title of best hunter thanks to a new engine which allowed him to be a strategic asset on the Western Front, especially in 1944 where he took a decisive part in superiority air in Germany.
The face represents a Mustang P-51 taking off. In the background, you can see the sun's rays hidden by a cloud.
The mention "North American Aviation", refers to the manufacturer of this plane.
The vintage is also present, on the right wing of the plane.
The P-51 represented is an airplane which was assigned to the 84th Fighter Squadronqui carries the Com in "Contrary Mary". It was the personal plane of Lieutenant-Colonel Roy Cavini.
The reverse, common to the series, presents two profiles of pilots symbolizing eras and typologies of use - civil and military - different. Many planes are represented in the sky also marking different times and uses, tribute to the history of the plane.
